Baseball — Where to Watch
Baseball is unusual among the sports on this site because there are four professional leagues with real broadcast markets: Major League Baseball in the United States and Canada, Japan’s NPB, Korea’s KBO and Taiwan’s CPBL. Each is sold separately. Following the NPB from Europe and following MLB from Japan are two different problems, with different answers.
The other thing worth knowing before you pay for anything: MLB’s national rights in the United States were rearranged for the 2026–2028 cycle. The windows moved between networks, and a great deal of what is still published about baseball on television is a description of the previous deal.
| Country | Who shows it | Free option |
|---|---|---|
| US | Fox and Fox Deportes are the primary free-to-air partner. NBC, NBCSN, Peacock and Telemundo hold the Sunday windows. ABC and ESPN have Saturday and Sunday afternoons and Monday nights, with ABC taking selected regular-season games. TBS continues, simulcast on HBO Max. Apple TV+ has Friday Night Baseball, and Netflix is new to baseball for 2026. Out-of-market games are MLB.TV. | None confirmed for live MLB. Fox and ABC are broadcast networks, so their games can be received free over the air with an antenna — that is a property of the network rather than a free league package. |
| Canada | Sportsnet+ carries MLB, which in practice means the Blue Jays. DAZN Canada carries MLB Network. TSN does not list MLB. | None confirmed. |
| Japan | DAZN Japan carries NPB, excluding some Hiroshima Carp home games, plus farm-league games; it sells a separate Baseball plan. J SPORTS carries baseball including MLB and the Carp, Chunichi, DeNA, Orix and Rakuten. | Terrestrial broadcasters air selected NPB games free, and TVer, the free ad-supported catch-up service, carries baseball highlights. Which games air free is announced only days ahead, so check listings rather than assuming. |
| South Korea | SPOTV carries MLB including the postseason and the World Series, and the WBSC Premier12. For the KBO, TVING holds the exclusive new-media rights under a contract running to 2026, with a renewal reported for 2027–2031. | KBS, MBC and SBS, the terrestrial networks, cover weekend KBO games, the opening game and key postseason games. Text commentary on the major portals is free too, but that is not a stream. |
| Taiwan | ELTA TV carries MLB and the home games of four CPBL clubs. DAZN Taiwan carries all six CPBL clubs plus the KBO and the NPB with Chinese commentary. CPBLTV, sold through Hami Video, is the only official full-season platform for the domestic league. | Some CPBL clubs stream some games free on their own Twitch and YouTube channels. This varies club by club and we could not confirm it for every club. |
| Switzerland | DAZN Switzerland lists MLB Network and MLB.TV as part of its sports tiers. | None confirmed. |
| UK and Ireland | No MLB broadcaster is confirmed in our research. Apple TV+ has carried Friday Night Baseball in some markets; its UK and Ireland status is unverified. | None confirmed. |
Can you watch it free?
Live MLB: no, not in any market we checked. There is no free-to-air MLB package anywhere, and the league’s own streaming product is a paid out-of-market service. The nearest thing in the United States is a Fox or ABC game received over the air.
The free layer in baseball is in Asia, and it is a domestic-league layer rather than an international one. Korea’s terrestrial networks show weekend KBO games, the opener and the postseason. Japan’s commercial networks air selected NPB games, with highlights on TVer. In Taiwan some CPBL clubs run their own free streams. None of that helps you follow MLB from outside the United States.
The cheapest legal route
- Japan. DAZN’s Baseball plan is the direct route to the NPB at ¥2,300 a month on an annual commitment; the general Standard plan is ¥4,200 a month, or from ¥3,200 a month when billed annually.
- South Korea. SPOTV, at 9,900 won a month for the basic tier or 19,900 won for premium.
- Taiwan. ELTA’s live package is NT$115 a month or NT$1,150 a year, and viewing is geo-restricted to Taiwan and the offshore islands. For the domestic league specifically, CPBLTV through Hami Video is the official full-season option.
- Canada. Sportsnet+ covers MLB and the Blue Jays. Standard is C$29.99 a month or C$249.99 a year, Premium C$42.99 a month or C$324.99 a year — with a price increase taking effect on 22 September 2026, reported as C$269.99 and C$344.99 a year. Check the current figure before subscribing, because that change dates quickly.
- United States, one team. MLB.TV is the out-of-market product, sold standalone and through Amazon Prime Video Channels. Prices were around $149.99 a year, or about $129.99 for a single team, but we could not confirm the current figures — and it is an out-of-market product, so your local team is blacked out live.
