DAZN — Where It Actually Works
DAZN is the most misunderstood sports service on the internet, and it is misunderstood in both directions at once. Half the guides out there tell you DAZN is available everywhere. The other half tell you it is not available in your country. Both are usually wrong, because DAZN is not one service — it is two, stacked on top of each other, and which one you get depends entirely on where you live.
The two layers
This is the whole thing in one idea. Once you have it, every confusing DAZN claim you have ever read makes sense.
- The global tier reaches over 200 countries. It carries boxing and pay-per-view, NFL Game Pass, FIFA+, NHL.tv, and highlights of the big European football leagues. It does not carry live domestic league football. Almost every country has a DAZN storefront because of this tier.
- The full local service — the one with actual live domestic football rights — exists in a much smaller set of markets. That is where DAZN is genuinely a replacement for a sports subscription rather than a boxing add-on.
Markets with the full DAZN service
These are the places where DAZN holds real domestic rights. If you are in one of them, DAZN is a serious option and worth pricing properly.
| Market | What DAZN actually carries | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Germany, Austria, Switzerland | Bundesliga, Champions League, Serie A, LaLiga, Ligue 1, 3. Liga, DFB-Pokal (CH), UFC, NFL Game Pass, NHL.tv | The strongest DAZN market. Also the one with the best free tier. |
| Italy | Serie A, Serie B, Coppa Italia, LaLiga, NFL Game Pass | Champions League is not listed on the Italian storefront — verify before recommending it for UCL. |
| Spain | LaLiga and LaLiga Hypermotion, Premier League, MotoGP, F1, EuroLeague, 2026 World Cup | LaLiga is split with Movistar — many fans need both. |
| Portugal | Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, LaLiga, F1 | MotoGP is not on the Portuguese storefront despite DAZN holding Portuguese MotoGP rights — it appears to sit on a different tier. |
| Belgium | Jupiler Pro League, Challenger Pro League, LaLiga, Serie A, Ligue 1, Primeira Liga, NBA | DAZN reportedly annulled its Belgian Pro League deal once. The current storefront sells it, so the situation has clearly moved on — but treat it as volatile. |
| France | Ligue 1 through the Ligue 1+ bundle, LaLiga, Serie A, Betclic Elite basketball, NFL Game Pass | DAZN withdrew from its Ligue 1 deal after one season amid a payment dispute, then returned through a different structure. The relationship is worth re-checking. |
| Japan | J.League, NPB baseball, NFL Game Pass, boxing, rugby, basketball | Very strong free tier — free live streams plus extensive free highlights. |
| Taiwan | CPBL baseball, KBO, NPB with Chinese commentary, LaLiga, NFL Game Pass | Genuinely local baseball rights, not just the global tier. |
| Canada | Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, LaLiga, EFL, Champions League, Europa League, Conference League, Carabao Cup, NFL Game Pass, UFC, boxing, tennis, golf | NFL Game Pass is bundled into the subscription here rather than sold separately. |
| United States | Boxing, plus Champions League and Serie A in Spanish only, NBA regional rights from 2026-27 | No English-language European football. This is the single most common false claim about DAZN in the US. |
| Australia | Global tier in the DAZN app; AFL, NRL and Australian sport sit on Kayo, which DAZN owns | DAZN bought the Foxtel Group in April 2025, so it owns Kayo rather than competing with it. |
| United Kingdom and Ireland | National League football, boxing, NFL Game Pass, Serie A, LaLiga and Bundesliga highlights | DAZN exists here — a claim many guides get wrong. But it carries no Premier League and no Champions League in the UK. There is a DAZN 1 linear channel on Sky. |
Countries with only the global tier
In these markets DAZN exists and you can subscribe, but there is no local league football. What you get is boxing, NFL Game Pass, FIFA+, NHL.tv and league highlights. That is genuinely useful if you want NFL coverage or boxing — and useless if you were hoping for your domestic league.
The Netherlands, India, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Brazil, Czechia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Vietnam, Bangladesh, the Philippines and Indonesia all fall into this group.
Two details worth knowing. In the Nordics, only English-language DAZN storefronts exist — there is no Swedish or Danish one, and NHL.tv specifically excludes the Nordic countries because local rights already existed. And in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, the global tier does include the Saudi Pro League and UAE Division 1 alongside the usual boxing.
Where DAZN genuinely does not operate
This list is short, and it is worth being precise about it, because "DAZN is not available in your country" is thrown around far more often than it is true.
- China — excluded from the 2020 global rollout, and NFL Game Pass excludes it separately.
- Russia — excluded.
- Iran, North Korea, Syria and Crimea — excluded.
Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru have no DAZN storefront. DAZN does hold rights in Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay through DSports, but that appears to be delivered as a separate service rather than through DAZN itself. We are not confident enough in that arrangement to state it plainly, so treat it as unverified.
The DAZN free tier is real
This surprises people, and it is genuinely one of the better free options in streaming. DAZN runs a free tier in most markets, and it is not a trial — there is no countdown and no card required in several markets. It is free with ads, permanently.
What it carries varies by country. Germany has the most generous version, with selected live LaLiga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and Saudi Pro League matches, Champions League highlights, women's Champions League, and free linear channels including a dedicated women's sport channel. Italy has FreeZone, Spain has "DAZN en abierto", and Japan's free tier needs no credit card at all. Several other markets including the UK, Ireland, the US, India, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand run "watch free" rails with a smaller selection.
NFL Game Pass
NFL Game Pass still exists under that name on DAZN — it was not renamed or absorbed, which some guides claim. It covers over 200 markets, excluding the United States and China. In Canada it is bundled into the DAZN subscription rather than sold separately.
One caveat for UK viewers specifically: two Sunday games are shown on a 24-hour tape delay rather than live.
There are four tiers — Season or Weekly, each in a Regular and an Ultimate version. Ultimate adds multiview for four games at once, HDR and Dolby 5.1, and the ManningCast feed. Prices differ substantially by market: a season pass is around £179.99 in the UK, €199.99 in Ireland, Germany and Spain, €209.99 in Italy, €219.99 in France, A$339.99 in Australia, R$479.90 in Brazil, ¥33,000 in Japan and MXN3,100 in Mexico.
What DAZN costs
Pricing is per market and changes often. These are the published starting points as we last checked them:
| Market | From | Structure |
|---|---|---|
| Germany | €24.99/month | Mobile, Super Sports and Unlimited tiers reported |
| Italy | €14.99/month | Four tiers: Sports €14.99, Goal €19.99, Full €44.99, Family €69.99 |
| Spain | €14.99/month | "Plan Futbol" |
| France | €14.99/month | Bundled with Ligue 1+ |
| United Kingdom | £14.99/month | Boxing and Serie A plan; Ultimate tier adds PPV events |
| Japan | ¥980/month | Global ¥980, Baseball ¥2,300, Standard ¥3,200 |
| Canada | Not published | Standard and Ultimate tiers |
| United States | Not published | Sold as add-ons |
Why DAZN is worth knowing about
DAZN holds an enormous amount of boxing — Matchroom through 2031, Queensberry, Riyadh Season, Top Rank, Golden Boy, PBC, Misfits and Boxxer — plus NHL.tv across roughly 200 countries and LIV Golf across 200 territories. If your interest is boxing or out-of-market hockey, DAZN is often the only serious legal route.
But it is also a service that has repeatedly entered markets and left them. It withdrew from Ligue 1 in France after one season over a payment dispute, and its Belgian Pro League deal was reported annulled before reappearing. That volatility is the reason we mark it for re-checking rather than stating its line-up as settled fact.
