UEFA Champions League — Where to Watch
The Champions League is sold differently from domestic leagues: rights go out in packages by market, and often split further inside a market, so that one broadcaster takes the first pick of matches each week and another takes what is left. That is why a competition everyone agrees is the biggest club tournament in the world still needs a country-by-country answer.
UEFA also sells some markets as a single exclusive deal and others as a shared one. Italy is the clearest example: Sky has most of the matches and Amazon Prime Video has a small exclusive slice, so even inside one country you may need two subscriptions to see everything.

Can you watch it free?
Mostly no, and it got worse recently. The 2026 final, PSG against Arsenal in Budapest, was the first Champions League final in 34 years that British viewers could not watch free — it was not free-to-air and not free on YouTube. If you see advice promising a free UK final stream, it is repeating a claim that stopped being true in 2026.
Where free access does exist, it comes from national law rather than goodwill:
- France — the final is on France's list of events of major importance, so it must be shown free-to-air. M6 carried it.
- Italy — semi-finals and the final must be free-to-air if an Italian club is involved. Italy's rules aim to guarantee free access to at least 80% of the population for listed events.
- Germany — the final of the European club competitions must be free-to-air if a German club is in it, under the Medienstaatsvertrag.
- Brazil — SBT has free-to-air Tuesdays, and TNT Sports streams 31 matches free on YouTube.
- Portugal — one match per matchday free on LiveModeTV's YouTube channel.
The cheapest legal route
- United States — Paramount+ Essential at about $8.99/month carries the competition. Note there is no free trial.
- UK — HBO Max sells TNT Sports at about £30.99/month, but the 12-month saver rates are lower. If you only want the knockout rounds, the saver plan is the cheaper route.
- Italy — if you mainly want the Wednesday matches, Prime Video Italia includes 18 exclusive Champions League games for about €49.90 a year, bundled with Prime. That is far cheaper than the full Sky package.
- Brazil — SBT and TNT Sports' YouTube channel cost nothing.
- Canada — DAZN Canada bundles the Champions League with the Premier League, Bundesliga, LaLiga, Serie A and the EFL, so one subscription covers most of the football you want.
