Europa League — Where to Watch
The Europa League and the Conference League are the competitions where the split between markets is easiest to see, because UEFA sells them as a package almost everywhere. If a broadcaster holds the Europa League in a given country, it usually holds the Conference League too, and often the Champions League as well. That means the practical question is not "who has the Europa League?" but "who holds UEFA's club competitions where I live?"
The one country where this is about to change is the UK, and it is worth knowing before you sign a contract.
| Country | Who shows it | Free option |
|---|---|---|
| UK | TNT Sports through 2026-27, then Sky Sports from 2027-28 | None |
| Ireland | TNT Sports through HBO Max, and Premier Sports Ireland lists the UEFA club competitions | None confirmed |
| United States | Paramount+, which holds the English-language rights to the Europa League and Conference League alongside the Champions League | None |
| Canada | DAZN Canada | None |
| Australia | Stan Sport | None |
| Germany | DAZN | The final must be free-to-air if a German club reaches it. No free live league-phase matches |
| France | Canal+, exclusively through 2031, along with the Champions League and Conference League | The Europa League and Conference League finals must be free-to-air if a French club takes part |
| Spain | Movistar Plus+, which holds all UEFA club competitions exclusively. Orange resells them | None confirmed |
| Italy | Sky Italia carries all Europa League and Conference League matches | Semi-finals and the final must be free-to-air if an Italian club is involved |
| Portugal | Sport TV has the first pick of each round; DAZN Portugal carries its share of the package | Portuguese law names one Europa or Conference League match per round involving a Portuguese club, but we could not verify that free coverage actually happens |
| Netherlands | Ziggo Sport, to 2030-31 | None |
| Norway & Finland | Viaplay, exclusively, from autumn 2027 to 2031 | None confirmed |
| MENA | beIN Sports is listed as holding the UEFA club competitions. Our source is second-hand — verify before subscribing | None |
| Japan | WOWOW, which also holds the Champions League exclusively | None |
| South Africa | SuperSport on DStv | None |
Can you watch it free?
Almost never during the league phase, and the exceptions are conditional rather than guaranteed. There is no market we checked where a Thursday night group match is routinely shown free.
What does exist is free-to-air protection for the closing rounds in countries whose law designates them. France, Germany and Italy all require the final — and in Italy the semi-finals too — to be available free-to-air when a club from that country is involved. Read that carefully: the free coverage is triggered by a local club reaching that stage. In a season with no French, German or Italian club left, there is no free live match at all, and in France the rule extends to the Conference League final on the same terms.
Portugal is the case to be careful about. Portuguese law names one Europa or Conference League match per round involving a Portuguese club, which reads like a guaranteed free game. In practice we could not verify that free coverage is regularly available, so we would not plan around it.
The cheapest legal route
- United States — Paramount+ Essential at about $8.99/month covers the Europa and Conference Leagues and the Champions League. There is no free trial.
- Canada — one DAZN Canada subscription covers all three UEFA competitions plus the Premier League, Bundesliga, LaLiga and Serie A.
- UK — TNT Sports through HBO Max, where the 12-month saver plans are cheaper than the monthly rate. Remember the rights move to Sky in 2027-28.
- Netherlands — Ziggo Sport is included for Ziggo customers on channel 14, which makes it free if you already take Ziggo broadband or TV.
- Australia — Stan Sport is an add-on to a Stan base plan, so the total depends on which base tier you choose.
