Premier League — Where to Watch
The Premier League is the most widely resold football competition on earth, and that is exactly why a simple question — "where can I watch it?" — has no single answer. The league does not sell one global product. It sells its rights territory by territory, and each buyer then decides what to do with them: put them behind a subscription, sub-licence part of the package, or show a slice of it free to pull in viewers.
Two consequences follow. First, the same match can be paywalled in one country and free in the next. Second, services look inconsistent because they are: DAZN's Canadian and Spanish subscribers get the Premier League, DAZN's British ones do not. Here is who has it where.
| Country | Who shows it | Free option |
|---|---|---|
| UK | Sky Sports (about 215 matches) and TNT Sports (about 52), under deals running to 2028-29 | Highlights only, on BBC Match of the Day. No free live football, and the 3pm Saturday blackout still applies |
| Ireland | Sky Sports and TNT Sports, plus a separate Irish package listed by Premier Sports Ireland | None confirmed |
| United States | NBC and Peacock. Peacock carries the exclusive matches; USA Network carries the televised ones | None — there is no free live Premier League in the US |
| Canada | DAZN Canada | None |
| Australia | Stan Sport, all 380 matches, through 2027-28 | Selected matches free on 9Now. The exact number is not published |
| Germany & Austria | Sky Deutschland, through the streaming service WOW | None |
| France | Canal+ holds the whole competition | None |
| Spain | DAZN carries the complete season. Movistar Plus+ has at least one match per round | None |
| Italy | Sky Italia and NOW, exclusively | None |
| Portugal | DAZN Portugal, exclusively, all 380 matches | One match per matchday free on LiveModeTV's YouTube channel |
| Netherlands | Viaplay (342 of 380 matches live) | None — Viaplay's free TV channel carries other sport |
| Nordics | Viaplay, exclusively across Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Iceland to 2027-28 | None |
| India | JioHotstar | None confirmed for the league itself |
| Brazil | ESPN, through Disney+ | CazéTV, free on YouTube, carries a weekly Premier League match. It is geo-locked to Brazil |
| South Africa | SuperSport on DStv. Only the Premium tier carries every SuperSport channel | None |
| MENA | beIN Sports, all 380 matches, to 2027-28. TOD streams every game | None |
| South Korea | Coupang Play, exclusively to 2030-31 | None |
| Japan | U-NEXT's Soccer Pack, all matches | None |
Can you watch it free?
Not really, and the honest answer is narrower than the marketing suggests. No market we checked offers the whole league without paying, and every genuinely free route below comes with a catch.
- UK — Match of the Day highlights on the BBC. No live matches, and the 3pm Saturday blackout means the Saturday afternoon fixture is not shown live in Britain at any price.
- Australia — 9Now carries selected marquee matches free with a free account, simulcast from Channel 9. The usual picks are the Saturday 12:30 and 15:00 UK kick-offs; the exact number of matches is not published.
- Portugal — one match per matchday free on LiveModeTV's YouTube channel, under the DAZN rights deal.
- Brazil — CazéTV carries a weekly match free on YouTube. It is a genuine rights-holder channel, but it is licensed for Brazil only, so it is not a workaround for anyone else.
The cheapest legal route
- One weekend, UK — a NOW day pass at £14.99 beats a month's subscription. NOW carries the Sky Sports channels without a contract.
- United States — Peacock Premium at about $12.99/month. Be careful: the cheaper Select tier at $8.99 explicitly excludes live sport.
- South Africa — the DStv Stream Sports package at ZAR 399/month carries every Premier League match. Showmax used to undercut it at ZAR 99; that service shut down on 30 April 2026.
- Australia — check 9Now first; Stan Sport is about AUD 20/month as an add-on to a Stan base plan, with no free trial.
- Portugal or Brazil — try the free routes above before buying anything.
Why the rights are split like this
The Premier League sells its international rights in regional bundles and its domestic rights in packages, which is why the UK needs two subscriptions and most other countries need one. The 3pm Saturday blackout is a British artefact — it exists to protect attendance at lower-league grounds — and it is why the same Saturday fixture that is unavailable in Manchester is on television in Dublin, Toronto and Sydney.
