LaLiga — Where to Watch

LaLiga is the clearest example in Europe of rights being split inside a single country. Spain's top division is not sold to one broadcaster but divided into lots, and the result is that two services share the season: Movistar Plus+ holds five matches per matchday, and DAZN holds five plus the free-to-air match. A supporter who wants every game needs both subscriptions, which is precisely the outcome the league's rights model produces.

Outside Spain the picture is simpler. In most countries one broadcaster buys the whole competition, which is why LaLiga is a single line on your bill almost everywhere except where it is played.

Can you watch it free?

In one market, genuinely yes, and it is a deliberate piece of regulation rather than a giveaway. Spanish law lists one LaLiga match per matchday as an event that must be available in the clear, and since January 2026 that match has been shown on Teledeporte, the public broadcaster's sports channel, and streamed free on RTVE Play. Spain's catalogue of protected events also names the semi-finals and final of the Copa del Rey, but no permanent catalogue had been adopted when we checked, so treat anything beyond the weekly free match as uncertain.

Note what is not on that list. There is no free LaLiga in the UK, the US, Canada or Australia, and no market where the whole season is free.

How we define "free". Every option on this site is either a public broadcaster, a free ad-supported tier, an official free trial, or a rights-holder's own channel. We do not list or link to unlicensed rebroadcasts. Note that a VPN does not make a stream legal: reaching a service licensed for another country normally breaches that service's terms, and the bigger platforms actively block it.

The cheapest legal route

Why do Spanish viewers need two subscriptions for LaLiga?
Because the rights are sold in lots rather than as one package. Movistar Plus+ holds five matches per matchday and DAZN holds five plus the free match, so a supporter who wants every game has to buy both.
Who shows LaLiga in the UK?
Premier Sports, at £13.99/month on a 12-month term or £18.99 month to month. It also carries the Champions Cup, URC, TOP 14 and Scottish football.
Is any LaLiga match free to watch?
Yes, in Spain. Teledeporte shows one match per matchday in the clear and streams it free on RTVE Play, because Spanish law treats one match per round as an event of general interest.
Which service has LaLiga in the United States?
ESPN, with LaLiga named on the ESPN Unlimited tier at about $31.99/month. Fubo also lists LaLiga among its football rights. Check which ESPN tier you are buying, because the cheaper digital tier is not the same product.
Does DAZN have LaLiga in every country?
No. DAZN holds LaLiga in Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Canada. What it carries differs from market to market, which is why a country-by-country check is the only safe approach.
Is there a free trial for LaLiga anywhere?
Not that we could verify. Spanish subscriptions generally do not offer trials, though Movistar has a permanent free tier that carries entertainment rather than live football, and DAZN runs a limited free tier in several markets.
