Volleyball — Where to Watch
Volleyball is two products that rarely sit on the same subscription. The club game is strongest in Italy and Poland, and it is sold league by league. The national-team game runs through the Volleyball Nations League, the World Championship and the European Championship. A service that carries one of those usually does not carry the other, so the question to ask before paying is which of the two you actually want.
Unlike football, volleyball has almost no global rights package. Everything is sold country by country, which means coverage ranges from excellent to non-existent within a few hundred kilometres. The table below says which is which, and where we could not confirm an answer, it says that instead.
| Country | Who shows it | Free option |
|---|---|---|
| Italy | DAZN Italia carries volleyball among its sports rights. We could not confirm which competitions from our sources, so check the schedule before subscribing for a specific league. | DAZN’s free tier, which needs only a registration, includes volleyball. Italy also protects the semi-finals and final of the volleyball World Championship when Italy is involved, and the requirement is free access for at least 80% of the population. |
| Poland | No broadcaster confirmed in our research for the domestic leagues, which is an odd gap for a country where the men’s league is one of the strongest in the world. | Poland’s listed-events list is one of the strongest in Europe for this sport: the semi-finals and finals of the World and European championships for both men and women, other matches involving Poland including qualifiers, and the Men’s Nations League events held in Poland plus Poland’s matches abroad. None of it applies yet — see the warning below. |
| France | Volleyball in France sits on pay television; we could not confirm the current rights holder. | Listed events only: the semi-finals and finals of the European and World championships when France takes part. |
| Germany | Dyn carries volleyball alongside the handball, basketball and ice hockey it describes as “beyond football”. Dyn’s pricing is unconfirmed in our sources. | None confirmed. |
| Czechia | Prima Sport, a free-to-air channel, carries the Extraliga volejbalu and beach volleyball among its rights. | Prima Sport is free-to-air on the DVB-T2 multiplex and free on the prima+ platform with a registration. Its licence covers Czechia only, not Slovakia. |
| Portugal | RTP, the public broadcaster, carries the 2026 European Volleyball Championship for men and women. | RTP Play, free. |
| Japan | J SPORTS lists volleyball among its channel genres, and ABEMA carries the domestic SV League and the Volleyball Nations League. | ABEMA’s free, ad-supported basic tier includes the volleyball it carries. Premium, which adds more, is ¥1,180 a month. |
| Indonesia | Vidio carries Proliga, the domestic league, in both the men’s and women’s competitions. | None confirmed. |
| Thailand | MONOMAX sells a Sports Premium tier advertising more than 3,000 volleyball matches; the Basic tier at 199 baht a month is volleyball only, without football. | PPTV HD 36 is free-to-air with a free live stream and carries volleyball, alongside its Asian Games and MotoGP output. |
| Balkans | Arena Sport lists the men’s and women’s Nations League, the CEV Champions League, the CEV Cup and the CEV Challenge Cup, plus the Italian, Polish, German, Slovenian and Serbian leagues. Max Sport in Bulgaria also lists volleyball. | None confirmed. These lists are crowd-edited and carry per-country exceptions, so treat them as a starting point. |
Can you watch it free?
More often than in most of the sports on this site, but never globally. The confirmed free routes we found are national rather than international: PPTV HD 36 in Thailand, Prima Sport in Czechia, RTP Play in Portugal for the European Championship, ABEMA’s free tier in Japan, and DAZN’s registration-only free tier in Italy. Each of them is a domestic broadcaster doing what domestic broadcasters do, not a free global volleyball service.
The one thing worth planning around is a home championship. Poland has protected its own matches and the Nations League events it hosts, and Italy protects the World Championship semi-finals and final when Italy is involved. If your country protects volleyball, the tournament is free; the league season generally is not.
