MLS — Where to Watch
Major League Soccer is the odd one out among the leagues on this site, because its rights are not split territory by territory in the usual way. Apple bought the competition's streaming rights and sold them through a single dedicated product, MLS Season Pass. That product no longer exists.
| Country | Who shows it | Free option |
|---|---|---|
| United States | Apple TV. Every match is included in a standard subscription, with no blackouts | A seven-day Apple TV free trial for new subscribers. Apple's page states the trial terms when you sign up |
| Canada | Apple TV, on the same terms as the US — the change applies in both countries | The same seven-day trial |
| Indonesia | Vidio, whose Platinum Extra tier includes MLS | None confirmed |
| South Korea | Coupang Play, which lists MLS but only for LAFC matches | None confirmed |
| UK, Ireland, Australia, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Brazil, India, South Africa, MENA | Not confirmed in our research. MLS rights outside North America are sold market by market and are thin | None confirmed |
We looked at a lot of markets for this page and found very little. That is not a gap in the research; it reflects how MLS rights are actually sold. Outside the United States and Canada, the league is a niche product, and the broadcasters that take it usually do so as part of a wider package rather than as a headline acquisition. Where we found a confirmed home — Indonesia and South Korea — the coverage is partial in one case and limited to a single club in the other.
Can you watch it free?
Partly, and only in the sense that the official channels publish what they publish.
- United States and Canada — Apple TV offers a seven-day free trial for new subscribers. It is the only free route to live MLS we could confirm, and seven days is long enough for a couple of matchdays.
- MLS's official YouTube channel — free highlights and clips, but not live matches.
- Some markets — league-run free streams of selected MLS matches have appeared on YouTube in specific territories. We could not verify which markets that currently applies to, so we have not listed any.
A word on the obvious temptation: the old Season Pass pages still exist in search results and some of them still take payments for a service that has changed shape. Buy through Apple's own page and you will be buying the current product.
The cheapest legal route
- United States and Canada — one Apple TV subscription covers the entire league, which makes it cheaper than the dedicated Season Pass ever was. Be aware that our sources disagree on the current monthly price — we saw both $12.99 and $14.99 quoted — so check Apple's own page before you buy.
- Only want a week? Start the seven-day trial and cancel before it ends. Billing starts automatically when it does.
- Outside North America — check whether a broadcaster in your market already carries MLS as part of a wider sports package before buying anything specifically for the league. In most markets we could not find one.
Why MLS looks different from every other league here
Most football rights are sold country by country, which is what produces the patchwork on the other pages in this section. MLS went the other way and centralised its streaming rights with one company, which made the answer simple for a few years: buy the dedicated product, get every match. The trade-off was that the product was expensive and separate from everything else you subscribed to. Folding it into a standard Apple TV subscription removes the separate purchase, and it also removes the dedicated product — which is why the guides that still mention Season Pass are not wrong about the past, only about the present.
