Best Way to Watch the Premier League
The Premier League sells its rights country by country, which means there is a different answer in every market — and usually two answers, because the 380 matches are normally split between two broadcasters so that neither has all of them.
This page is ranked by what you actually get for the money: how many matches, how easy it is to leave, and whether anything nearby is free. Not by which service pays a commission.
Who has the Premier League, country by country
| Country | Who shows it | Free option |
|---|---|---|
| UK | Sky Sports, about 215 matches, and TNT Sports, about 52 | Highlights only, on BBC Match of the Day. The 3pm Saturday blackout still applies. |
| Ireland | Sky Sports and Premier Sports Ireland | Highlights. Irish viewers also have a free NFL package, but not free football. |
| United States | NBC's networks and Peacock, which carries the exclusive matches | None. This is a paid market end to end. |
| Canada | DAZN Canada | None for football. CBC Gem is free but does not carry the Premier League. |
| Australia | Stan Sport, all 380 matches, through 2027-28 | Yes — 9Now carries selected marquee matches free with a free account. |
| New Zealand | Sky Sport Now | None. A 24-hour day pass is the closest thing to a trial. |
| Germany | Sky, through WOW for streaming | None live. DAZN's German free tier carries Champions League highlights, not Premier League. |
| Spain | DAZN carries the complete package; Movistar Plus+ has one featured match per round | None live. |
| Italy | Sky Italia, exclusively, through NOW for streaming | None live. |
| Portugal | DAZN, all 380 matches exclusively | Yes — one match per matchday free on LiveModeTV's YouTube channel. |
| Netherlands | Viaplay, 342 of the 380 matches live | None live. |
| Nordics | Viaplay, exclusive across all five markets through 2027-28 | None live. |
| France | Canal+, the complete package | None live. |
| Brazil | ESPN via Disney+ carries the main package | Yes — Cazé TV shows a weekly Premier League match free, on the condition you are in Brazil. |
| India | JioHotstar | None confirmed for the Premier League specifically. |
| South Africa | SuperSport on DStv. The Sports package carries every Premier League match | None live. The Sports package at ZAR 399/month on DStv Stream is the cheapest legal route in the market |
| MENA | beIN Sports, all 380 matches, exclusive to the end of 2027-28; TOD streams it | None live. |
| Japan | U-NEXT, all 2026-27 matches, exclusively | None live. |
| South Korea | Coupang Play, exclusive for six seasons to 2030-31 | None live. |
| Singapore | StarHub, all 380 matches | None. The Premier League's own streaming service, in partnership with StarHub, launched for 2026-27. |
| Vietnam | FPT Play, sole rights holder for 2026 to 2031 | None live. |
| Malaysia | Astro, with beIN Sports Connect as an add-on | None for the Premier League. |
| Indonesia | Vidio — but only on the Ultimate tier | None live. |
| Thailand | AIS Play, on the MONOMAX Sports Premium and Standard packages | None live. |
The best option, by what you want
- Cheapest paid route anywhere: the DStv Stream Sports package in South Africa at ZAR 399/month. It carries the live Premier League plus every South African Premiership match.
- Best value in the US: Peacock Premium at about USD 12.99/month. It carries the platform-exclusive matches, and NBC's other matches go out on its broadcast networks. It is the cheapest way into the Premier League in that market.
- Best value in the UK: there is no cheap route, because the rights are deliberately split. Sky Sports has the bulk and TNT Sports has a small package, so a complete viewer needs both. A NOW day pass at £14.99 is the sensible product if you only watch occasionally.
- Best free option globally: 9Now in Australia, which shows selected marquee matches free with only a free account required. It is a genuine anomaly: top-flight English football, free to air, in a major market.
- Best free option if you are in Brazil or Portugal: Cazé TV shows a weekly Premier League match free in Brazil, and one match per matchday is free on LiveModeTV's YouTube channel in Portugal. Both are territory-locked, and that is the whole point.
The 3pm blackout, and why the UK has no free live football
The UK is the most restricted Premier League market, and it is worth understanding why. Matches kicking off at 3pm on a Saturday are not televised live anywhere in the UK — that restriction exists to protect attendance in the lower divisions, and it remains in force.
The consequence is that the UK has no free live Premier League football at all. The free output is BBC Match of the Day, which is highlights and is genuinely excellent, but it is not live. If a page promises you free live Premier League in the UK, it is either wrong or it is pointing you at something unlicensed.
Mistakes worth avoiding
- Amazon Prime Video has no Premier League football in the UK. It exited after the 2024-25 season. A very large number of guides still list it.
- DAZN has no Premier League in the UK — but it has the full package in Canada and Spain. Brand names do not travel in this market; there is a full DAZN country list here.
- Optus Sport no longer exists as an Australian football service. The rights moved to Stan Sport via Nine.
- Peacock's cheapest tier excludes sport entirely. The football needs the Premium tier.
- Vidio in Indonesia carries the Premier League only on the Ultimate tier, and the dedicated Premier League Mobile package is not currently on sale.
- AIS Play's cheapest tier does not have the Premier League. It sits on the Premium and Standard packages.
