MotoGP — Where to Watch
MotoGP is a single championship with a single calendar, which makes it simpler than most motorsport — but it is sold in three different ways at once. In some countries it sits with the broadcaster that also holds Formula 1. In others it sits with a dedicated sports tier. In a third group it turns up on a public or free-to-air channel as a listed event, which is how a handful of races a year end up free.
The calendar is also unusually spread out, so a national Grand Prix is often a country’s only guaranteed free race of the season. That is why the same championship can be pay-only in Britain and partly free in Italy and Austria.
| Country | Who shows it | Free option |
|---|---|---|
| UK | TNT Sports has the whole championship, and it is now sold through HBO Max rather than as a standalone app — £30.99 a month, with 12-month saver plans that work out cheaper. Legacy access through Sky and Virgin remains. | ITV shows the British Grand Prix plus about two further races live, with highlights of the rest on ITV4. This is one of the better free motorsport arrangements in Europe. |
| Ireland | The same TNT Sports coverage as the UK, sold through HBO Max. | As the UK, though ITVX is geo-blocked to the UK. |
| Germany | Sky Deutschland through WOW, in the Live-Sport package — €29.99 a month on a 12-month plan, then €44.99, or €44.99 flexible. There is no free sport trial. | None confirmed. |
| Austria | Sky Österreich, whose Sky X sports tier runs from €25 a month on a 12-month term. | ServusTV, a free-to-air channel, carries MotoGP. Its streams are available abroad but most of the sport on them is geo-blocked to Austria and Germany. |
| Netherlands | Ziggo Sport holds MotoGP to 2029, in the same package as the Champions League and LaLiga. It is free to Ziggo cable customers on channel 14. | None confirmed. |
| Spain | DAZN España lists MotoGP as exclusive in Spain to the end of 2026, sold through its Motor plan at €19.99 a month. Movistar Plus+ also lists MotoGP, and the exact split between the two is something we could not confirm. | Motorcycle Grands Prix held in Spain are on the Spanish list of events of general interest. The four-year catalogue that would put that into practice had not been published when we last checked, so treat it as a legal route rather than a promise. |
| Portugal | Sport TV has MotoGP until the end of 2026, from €24.99 a month. From January 2027 it becomes DAZN-exclusive, joined by WorldSBK. | The Portuguese Grand Prix is on Portugal’s annual listed-events list. In practice Portugal’s listed-events obligations have not always been enforced, so do not treat that as a guarantee of free coverage. |
| Italy | Sky Italia and NOW, where MotoGP is sold with Formula 1 as the exclusive streaming option. NOW’s Pass Sport is €19.99 a month with a 12-month commitment, or €29.99 rolling. | TV8, which is free, carries Saturday qualifying and sprint races, some races live and the rest delayed. Which races are live changes, so check the published listing for the weekend you care about. |
| Czechia | Oneplay, the merged O2 TV and Voyo service, carries MotoGP on its sport tiers. It is the one service on this page with a real free trial — 7 days — but be careful, because it converts automatically into a paid tariff if you do not cancel. | None confirmed. Czech Television is free but we could not confirm current live MotoGP rights. |
| India | FanCode sells it in pieces: ₹99 for a single Formula 1 race weekend, ₹899 a year for the Formula series, and a motorsport pass at ₹999 a year that adds MotoGP. | None confirmed. |
| South Africa | SuperSport on DStv. Only the Premium tier carries the complete set of SuperSport channels, which is where MotoGP sits. | None confirmed. |
| Malaysia & South-East Asia | SPOTV NOW is sold in eight markets and its Malaysian annual plan at MYR 115.90 includes MotoGP and WorldSBK. Astro’s Sports Pack in Malaysia also lists MotoGP. | None confirmed. |
| Indonesia | Vision+ carries MotoGP and WorldSBK on its Premium Sports tier, at roughly Rp 40,000 a month. | None confirmed. |
| Thailand | Pay rights sit with the usual sports tiers. | PPTV HD 36 is free-to-air and carries MotoGP. |
| South Korea | SPOTV and SPOTV NOW carry MotoGP: ₩9,900 a month for the basic 720p tier, ₩19,900 for the premium one. | None confirmed. |
| Bulgaria | Max Sport, sold to A1 television customers. | None confirmed. |
Can you watch it free?
In four countries, and the shape of it is different in each. Britain has the best arrangement of the four: ITV carries the British Grand Prix and about two other races live, with highlights of the rest, which is unusual for a pay-television sport. Austria has ServusTV, a free-to-air channel that carries MotoGP outright. Thailand has PPTV HD 36, also free-to-air. Italy has TV8, which is the most awkward of the four, because it alternates between live, delayed and qualifying-only depending on the weekend.
Everywhere else the answer is no. MotoGP is a pay product in Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, South Africa, South Korea and Bulgaria, and we could not confirm a broadcaster at all in the United States, Canada or Australia.
The championship also sells a streaming pass of its own, direct to viewers. We could not verify its price or the list of countries where it is sold, so we are not quoting either — and because its availability depends on the local broadcast deal, it is worth checking the official site for your own country rather than assuming.
The cheapest legal route
- UK, roughly three races a year. Free on ITV, including the British Grand Prix.
- Portugal, from January 2027. DAZN’s Motores tier starts at €6.99 a month, which is far cheaper than the Sport TV package MotoGP sits in now.
- Spain. The DAZN Motor plan at €19.99 a month carries full MotoGP and Formula 1 together.
- South-East Asia. SPOTV NOW’s Malaysian annual plan at MYR 115.90 includes MotoGP and WorldSBK for a year.
- Czechia, one weekend. Oneplay’s 7-day trial, if you cancel in time — it converts to a paid tariff automatically.
