Eredivisie — Where to Watch
The Eredivisie has one of the tidiest rights pictures in Europe and one of the messiest viewing bills, and the two facts are related. The Dutch league is sold to a single broadcaster, ESPN NL, which carries every match of the season live. That is simpler than Spain or the UK. But it sits in the middle of a market where each of the three competitions a Dutch football fan actually wants — the Eredivisie, the Champions League and the Premier League — is held by a different provider.
So the answer to "who shows the Eredivisie?" is genuinely one line. The answer to "what will this cost me?" depends entirely on what else you want to watch, and that is the part most guides skip.
| Country | Who shows it | Free option |
|---|---|---|
| Netherlands | ESPN NL, every match live, plus the Vrouwen Eredivisie, the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, the TOTO KNVB Beker, the Johan Cruijff Schaal and the play-offs. It is sold as an add-on through Ziggo, KPN, Odido or Delta rather than direct | None confirmed. NPO Start, the free public-service service, carries selected live sport and the Olympics, but not the Eredivisie |
| Belgium | Play Sports on Telenet, inside a package that also has the Premier League, the Bundesliga and the Champions League for one more season. DAZN Belgium’s football slate is the Jupiler Pro League, LaLiga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and Primeira Liga — not the Eredivisie | Play Sports has no free tier. DAZN Belgium runs a Freemium tier for cup football and highlights, which does not include this league |
| France | DAZN France | DAZN’s French free section carries selected events; we could not confirm the Eredivisie in it |
| Portugal | DAZN Portugal | None — the Portuguese free tier is built around F1 practice, women’s football and one NFL game a week |
| Switzerland | blue Sport, among a portfolio that includes the Champions League, LaLiga, Liga Portugal and the Saudi Pro League | None — blue Sport runs an introductory price for new annual subscribers rather than a trial |
| Poland | Polsat, alongside the Europa League and Conference League to 2030-31 and Serie A. Eleven Sports in Poland does not list it | None |
| Czechia | O2 TV Sport | None confirmed |
| Bulgaria | Max Sport 1–4, sold to A1 TV customers as the Max Sport pack, alongside Serie A, LaLiga and the Russian and Ukrainian leagues | None confirmed |
| Balkans | Arena Sport in Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and North Macedonia, but not in Croatia or Slovenia. Sport Klub holds it in Croatia and Slovenia. Both listings carry per-country carve-outs, so confirm with the broadcaster | None confirmed |
| Japan | U-NEXT, where the Eredivisie sits in the Soccer Pack alongside the Premier League, LaLiga, the FA Cup and the KNVB Cup | U-NEXT itself offers a 31-day free trial, and the trial points can be put towards the first month of the Soccer Pack |
| South Korea | Coupang Play | None confirmed — Coupang Play is free with ads to Coupang members but its live football tiers are paid |
| Indonesia | Vidio, on the Platinum tier that also carries the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup | None confirmed — Vidio’s free tier and trial status is unclear |
| UK, Ireland, US, Canada, Australia, India | Not confirmed in our research | None confirmed |
Can you watch it free?
Nowhere we could confirm, and the Dutch case is worth spelling out because it is not an accident. The Netherlands has no formal listed-events regime of the kind France, Italy and Portugal use, so there is no rule obliging anyone to show a match in the clear. NOS, the public broadcaster, buys the sport it wants commercially — which is why it has the World Cup and the Dutch Grand Prix live, and why it does not have the Eredivisie.
- Netherlands — nothing we could confirm. NPO Start and NOS carry free sport, but not this league.
- Belgium — DAZN Belgium’s Freemium tier is genuinely free and permanent, but it covers cup football and highlights rather than the Eredivisie.
- Japan — the closest thing to a real free route: U-NEXT’s 31-day trial, which can be spent on the Soccer Pack that includes the Eredivisie. It is a trial, so it is a one-off rather than a way to follow a season.
The cheapest legal route
This is the part where the honest answer for the Netherlands is unsatisfying: ESPN NL is sold through the TV operator rather than as a standalone app, and we could not find a published price for it. What we can say is how to avoid paying twice.
- Netherlands — if you already take television or broadband from Ziggo, KPN, Odido or Delta, check the ESPN NL add-on price for your own package first, because that is the only route to the league and the price is not advertised nationally. Do not assume a streaming subscription you already hold will cover it.
- Netherlands, and be careful — Viaplay is a tempting buy in that market, but its Dutch service carries the Premier League, Formula 1, the Bundesliga and darts, not the Eredivisie. Its cheaper Basis tier also carries advertising. Paying for Viaplay to get Dutch league football is a common and expensive mistake.
- Belgium — Play Sports at €19.99/month is the cheaper of the two Belgian football packages, and it carries the Eredivisie where DAZN Belgium does not.
- Poland, Czechia, Bulgaria — in each of these the Eredivisie is one item in a broad sports package, so value it against everything else in the bundle rather than on its own.
- Japan — the cheapest route to a full month of Dutch football anywhere on this page: a U-NEXT free trial, then the Soccer Pack, whose first month can be reduced using the trial points.
Why the Dutch market is split three ways
The Eredivisie is the cheapest of Europe’s significant leagues to buy, which has an odd consequence: the broadcaster that holds it can afford to hold it exclusively, but a Dutch football fan is also the target of every international rights seller in Europe. So the league ends up on one service, the Champions League on a second and the Premier League on a third, and each of them is sold as a reason to take a slightly larger package. If you want the whole picture in the Netherlands, you are looking at three subscriptions, and only one of them is the one this page is about.
